Manchester United’s star goalkeeper Andre Onana has expressed his gratitude to fans in Uganda following a warm reception during his recent visit with

Cameroon were held to a goalless draw by Zimbabwe who opted to host their 2025 AFCON Qualification game at Namboole.

In a heartfelt tweet, Onana wrote, "Thank you for the warm welcome. I would have liked to spend more time with all of you. See you next month in #Uganda."

With the other group opponent Kenya having hosted Zimbabwe at Namboole last week, they are once again expected to host Onana’s Cameroon at the same venue next month.

And that is expected to give Ugandans, especially Manchester United fans, another chance to watch the goalkeeper.

Hundreds of fans, many dressed in Manchester United jerseys, filled Namboole, passionately chanting Onana’s name throughout the match.

The Cameroonian keeper, now a global star, was in goal for his national team, which drew 0-0 against Zimbabwe, earning a vital point in their qualification campaign.

The support was so overwhelming that Onana had to be escorted out of the stadium under heavy security after fans mobbed him outside the venue, desperate to catch a glimpse of their hero.

Adding to the spectacle, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, who had been following the event closely, expressed his admiration for the Ugandan fans.

He reposted videos of the stadium scenes with the caption "Love this," accompanied by Ugandan and Cameroonian flags, further underlining the global reach of the support Onana enjoys.
